Performance in Use
The 877W-G-A-K9 sits at the edge of a small office network, terminating an ADSL line and sharing it securely across wired and wireless clients. Its four-port switch connects local workstations, printers and VoIP phones, while the integrated 802.11b/g radio extends coverage to laptops and mobile devices without extra hardware.
With the Advanced Security feature set, the router runs a stateful firewall, intrusion prevention and IPsec VPN concurrently, letting a branch office build an encrypted tunnel back to head office over a low-cost broadband link. Quality of Service prioritises voice and video so calls stay clear even when the line is busy.
For labs, training environments and legacy Cisco IOS estates, the 877W is also a cost-effective spare or study unit that behaves exactly like production hardware.
